Department of Information and Communications Technology DICT Region 10 Rings in 2024 with Enhanced Connectivity thanks to “Free WiFi for All”!
As 2024 begins, residents of Region 10, Northern Mindanao, have much to celebrate! The #YourDICT10 initiative, “Free WiFi for All – Broadband ng Masa,” reached a remarkable milestone, closing the year with a total of 588 active access points (APs) across the region.
This impressive achievement signifies significant progress in bridging the digital divide and boosting internet accessibility for everyone.
With the activation of 132 additional APs in December, residents in key areas like:
- Bukidnon: 16 breathtaking landscapes now connected
- Camiguin: 20 spots on the Chilling Island enjoy free WiFi
- Cagayan de Oro City: 26 bustling hubs equipped with free access
- Misamis Oriental: 14 scenic locations with enhanced connectivity
- Iligan City: 8 dynamic communities gain online access
- Lanao del Norte: 34 beautiful areas touched by digital transformation
- Misamis Occidental: 14 prosperous provinces experiencing WiFi boost
This expansion goes beyond just numbers. It represents a commitment to empower every corner of Northern Mindanao with the transformative power of the internet.
These free WiFi sites unlock doorways to:
- Education: Enabling online learning resources and educational opportunities
- Economic Opportunities: Facilitating online businesses and promoting digital entrepreneurship
- Community Engagement: Connecting residents, fostering stronger communities, and bridging communication gaps
