DOLE Issued New Minimum Wage Orders in Northern Mindanao Region

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment announced last December 23, 2023, the new minimum wage orders issued in the Northern Mindanao region

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region X (Northern Mindanao) motu proprio issued Wage Order No. RX-22 on 19 December 2023, granting a P23 daily minimum wage increase across all categories upon effectivity, and an additional P10 as the second tranche on 0 July 2024.

Upon full implementation of the two tranches, the daily minimum wage rates in the region shall be ₱423-₱438 for the non-agriculture sector; and ₱411-₱426 for the agriculture sector.

According to the official website, starting January 11, 2024, workers in the region can expect a significant pay bump thanks to the new wage orders issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB).

Here’s what you need to know:

Your daily minimum wage will be going up by 8%, with specific rates depending on your industry (e.g., non-agricultural vs. agricultural).
This also translates to a 23% increase in wage-related benefits like 13th-month pay, leave pay, and social security contributions.
An estimated 144,133 minimum wage earners and 267,305 other wage earners could see a boost in their paychecks. Even domestic workers are getting a raise, with their monthly minimum wage increasing by P500-P1,500 depending on their location.
The wage increases were determined after thorough consultations and hearings with representatives from the government, business, and labor sectors for transparency and fairness.

As always, there are some exceptions for small businesses and those affected by disasters. You can find more information and apply for exemption through the RTWPB.
