Higalaay Festival Named The Finalist in Philippine LEAF Awards’ Outstanding Festival Cagayan de Oro City
Philippine Live Entertainment, Arts,and Festivals (LEAF), Honoring and Celebrating Filipino Integrity Creativity and Excellence, announced the finalists of all the categories last January 11, 2024 through their Facebook page and included Higalaay Festival of Cagayan de Oro City as a finalist for Mindanao Outstanding Festival Category.
This year’s theme is: Philippine LEAF Awards: Tertulia at Parangal 2024 and the body will be awarding 1 winner from Luzon, 1 from Visayas, and 1 from Mindanao.
The post also announced the awarding happening on February 8, 2024 at the iconic Metropolitan Theater.
The finalists from Mindanao included Cantago Festival of Tagoloan, Mais Festival of Claveria, and P’gsalabuk Festival of Zamboanga del Norte. Some popular festivals also included Pahiyas Festival of Lucban, Quezon, Ati-atihan festival of Aklan, Bailes de Luces of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, Dinagyang Festival of Ilo-ilo, and Sinulog Festival of Cebu Province, all of which will be competing per region.

From the press release last December 2, 2024, “The LEAF Tertulia at Parangal 2024 is not just any ordinary awards ceremony. It will celebrate the best in Philippine Culture and the Arts — Past, Present, and Future. True Filipino Artists will be an integral part of this grand event,” emphasized LEAF Founder and Head Juror for Music, Frank G. Rivera. Rivera shared the stage with current LEAF President, esteemed TV and live events director, CJ Andaluz, who also serves as the Creative and Managing Director of Pixel Art Media Production Company.
