How to Compute Holiday Pay in the Philippines
Employees in the Philippines under the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) are entitled to specific pay benefits when working on regular holidays.
No Work on a Regular Holiday
Employees are entitled to holiday pay of 100% of their daily wages
Example Computation:
Employee Daily Wage: Php 500
Holiday Pay: 100% of daily wage
Formula: 100% holiday pay + No work (Daily wage) = Holiday Pay Received
Results: Php 500 + Php0.00 (no work)
= Php 500 (Entitle to receive 100% pay )
Work on a Regular Holiday
Employees are entitled to receive 200% of their daily wage.
Example Computation:
Employee Daily Wage: Php 500
Holiday Pay: 100% of daily wage
Formula: 100% holiday pay + No work (Daily wage) = Holiday Pay Received
Results: Php 500 + Php 0 (Work on Regular Holidays)
= Php 1000 (Received 200% of salary wage)
Overtime on a Regular Holiday
Employees are entitled to receive an additional 30% of their hourly rate beyond working eight hours.
Example Computation:
Employee Daily Wage: Php 500
Hourly Rate is 500/8 hours = Php 62.5/Hour
Holiday Pay: 30% Additional Overtime Rate
Formula: Daily wage / hourly rate + 30% additional overtime rate = Hourly Overtime rate
Results: Php 500 / 8 (working hours) + 30% additional Overtime Hour
= Php 81.25 (Overtime Hourly Rate)
